When attending or hosting an event in iVent, you are likely to receive emails. These emails can vary in their importance and content, and it is important to make sure you are receiving them in your email inbox.
To receive emails
In order to receive all emails from the platform that include things like file upload notifications, broadcasted messages and email reminders, it's recommended to subscribe to email notifications in the platform.
How to enable all email notifications in the platform:
1. Login into an event
2. Click on the cog wheel in the top-right corner, and choose Your Profile
3. Click Edit Profile
4. Make sure Email Subscription Status is set to Subscribed
5. Scroll down and click Submit
Whitelisting domains
In some cases, even if you are subscribed to all emails in iVent, you still might not be receiving emails. This is often due to external factors like the settings of your email servers which are often controlled by an IT department of your organisation.
In order to make sure you always receive emails from iVent, other than being subscribed it's recommended to whitelist online-event.co as a domain in your emails. The settings to do that differ between email providers so it depends which one you use and moreover, they are often controlled by an IT department of your organisation.
If you can't whitelist online-event.co domain yourself, please speak to your IT department.
Email notification delays
The iVent platform has email notifications built in to let you know of the latest things that are happening in the platform that you might want to know about. Some of these emails are related to your online and offline statuses in the platform.
For example, if you are offline and you have received a private message in the platform, you will receive an email notification to notify you of that. Similarly, if you are a speaker/presenter and you are offline but are waiting for a question to come through, you will get an email notification.
However, when you are online, iVent platform knows that you are receiving these notifications inside the platform and hence you will not receive email notifications as well.
Sometimes, it might take a couple of minutes before the platform changes your status between online and offline. For example, if you have recently logged in, and have received a private message you might still receive an email notification until the platform knows for certain that you are online. When that changes, you will no longer receive email notifications, and it works the same way when you go offline.
