As part of your presence in a virtual event, as a speaker, you might be asked to do your presentation live using a Collab Room which is a video collaboration platform that works with iVent. Take a look at our guide below to see what you need to do to enter the room successfully.
Presenter link
As a speaker you will be provided with a specific presenter link to the room where you are going go live to host your session. In the same way that you would receive a link to attend a Zoom or a Microsoft Teams call. This link will be provided by your event organiser/host.
This link is important because it defines your role in that room, and as a presenter you will be given the rights to control the room so that you can set it up, enable your camera and allow guests to enter the room.
Room Layout
When entering the Collab Room for the first time, you might be asked to enter a few of your details. The Collab Room doesn't store your details, so every time you close your tab or browser, you will be asked to do the same.
You will be greeted with the message as shown above and all you have to do is click I'm ready. This confirms to the browser that it can get access to your webcam and microphone with your permission.
Webinar
Depending on how the organiser decides to style out the Collab Room, it can take many different shapes, layouts and design elements. But there are two main ones, they are called Webinar and Meeting interfaces.
If you enter a Collab Room when it's set in a Webinar interface then it will look something like the above screenshot. You will see a bunch of boxes on the right, and the main window where you can share slides or a screen will be in the middle.
In order to go live, all you have to do is click the Mic or Video icons. The Video icon will enable your microphone as well, so keep that in mind.
Meeting
A Meeting interface essentially has similar functionality but looks slightly different. The Meeting interface setup is aimed at showing the presenters rather than sharing content, even though you can still do both. See the above screenshot so that you know where you need to click to enable your camera, microphone or change their settings. Those are the key basics that you would need to know as a speaker in a Collab Room.
