If enabled, a waiting room feature is a useful crowd-control tool. If you are trying to limit the amount of people joining your session you can provide details about your session in the waiting for everyone to see but only a few can be let in. You can also use this feature as a holding space whilst you are waiting to start your session. See our guide below to learn more.
Waiting rooms – a host’s best friend
While in the waiting room, the participants see a screen with the session information listed. The presenter on the other hand sees a notification that someone would like to enter the room, so you as a presenter can let one person in or all of the people in the waiting room at once.
What can you do with a waiting room?
A Digital Waiting Area
Create a space for your attendees to wait before your webinar is ready to start. Make your webinars more professional with a customized and informative waiting room.
Provide an Outline
Add an outline of your webinar, information about co-hosts or presenters and any other basic information your attendees might need to have on hand before anything starts.
No Uninvited Guests
Use it as a security measure – only let in attendees you know are on your list, avoiding potential uninvited guests.
Managing attendees with Lock/Unlock button
When you have multiple attendees already ready to join your session, you wouldn't want to have to let in each and one of them individually, hence why we have built an Unlock button to allow all attendees jump in the room and skip the waiting room.
To stop any attendees entering the room, and instead reaching the waiting room:
Click the Lock button until it's displaying Unlock. This means that the room is locked from any participant except for hosts, presenters and moderators. If you already have people in the waiting room, there will be a number displayed next to the button.
To let all attendees join the room and skip the waiting room feature:
Click the Lock button until it's displaying Lock. In this position this feature allows you to control the crowd and have all participants join the waiting room before they join the session.
Allowing ALL attendees to enter the room if they are in the waiting room:
1. On the participants list, click the cog wheel and then click Let in all participants.
Allowing individual attendees to enter the room from waiting room:
1. On the participants list find the participant you want to let in and then click the Let in button.
