In the iVent platform you may find live chat available as an option in various places, such as the networking lounge, booths or webcasts. We have put together some useful hints and tips on how to use live chat during an event to connect with fellow delegates, exhibitors, event hosts and others.
How to identify what is live chat?
Live chat in the event is pretty easy to find, whenever you see a thread of comments, people on the right panel who are live in the chat or options for Live Chat, My Chat and To Action - you know that you are in the right place. Live chat in the event is a place for everyone to gather round, ask questions, share opinions and feedback and connect. It can be found in Booths, Networking Lounge, Webcasts and the NEW Meeting Manager.

The system will let you know which users are responding to your posts by displaying username is typing i.e. John Smith is typing.
Who’s here?
Over to the right, you will see which other users are in the chat area. You can click onto their profile and have private chats or send private messages. Admin users will be identifiable by a crown icon displaying next to their name.
Read only live chat
You may find live chat on the booth or in a presentation that is set to read only when it's offline. When the live chat is in read only mode you can then read the previous live chat posts and comments, but you won't have the ability to comment or reply. A read only chat will say Read only mode so that you know straight away that it's for viewing purposes only.
Read only wall
Some booths you visit may also use a wall, where anyone can leave a message for the exhibitor to read at a later date. Some walls may be set by an exhibitor to read only mode when they are offline which means that they are for viewing purposes only.
